The project features CO₂-neutral precast concrete columns produced by Beton und Naturstein Babelsberg GmbH (BNB) using ecoLocked Materials. This biochar-based admix, eLM Zero, enhances the durability of the columns and makes the net CO₂ footprint of concrete zero. This means that the amount of carbon sequestered and stored in the concrete is equal to the embodied carbon from virgin materials like cement.

The pergola combines timber rafters with CO₂-neutral concrete columns, creating an elegant and climate-friendly structure. This harmonious design stands as a symbol of carbon sinks in public spaces, showcasing how innovative materials and thoughtful architecture can pave the way for climate-positive solutions.
